The theatre has two dressing rooms, a significant costume wardrobe, props and set pieces galore, plus a large workshop and loading dock to the left of the stage.
How we decide which shows to schedule
There’s no formula for deciding which shows to schedule, however there are some criteria the Darlington Theatre Players consider when reviewing submissions:
- The show you have submitted
- Is it a good script?
- Are rights available?
- Has it been done recently?
- Is it timely?
- What themes does it cover?
- What are the casting requirements?
- The production team behind the show
- What is your vision?
- What experience do you have?
- Does your team involve existing members of Darlington Theatre Players?
- Do you have experience with shows like this before?
- Which season you are submitting for
- Is it the right show for that time of year?
- Will you be costuming cast in winter clothes in the middle of summer, and vice versa?
- Are your production team available for the entire rehearsal period?
- The technical requirements of the show
- What tech requirements do you see this show having?
- Can it be done with what we have?
- What makes Marloo Theatre ideal to support the technical requirements of this show?
- Other shows we have had submitted
- We are likely to schedule only one of each type of production, so how does your submission compare to others we receive?
- How does it sit amongst other shows scheduled for the year?
